Recently, I posted this breakfast dish on my Instagram as one of the best food styling accomplishments so far. Well, few people reached out to me for a recipe, so here it is. It one of those recipes that are so fast and easy but will impress people, so be sure to share it with someone you care about. This recipe is perfect for beginners!

And why have Salmon Tartare for breakfast? Well, not only it’s full of protein which should be the base of every breakfast, but it is packed with healthy fats, and the meal itself is quite fulfilling so that you won’t be hungry for a long time.

Ingredients:

  • 300g salmon fillet

  • 1/4 cup fresh chopped dill

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tsp capers

  • 2 tsp mustard

  • freshly ground pepper and salt according to your taste

Instructions:

  1. Check your salmon fillet for any remaining bones and take them out (tweezers are great for that). Cut off the skin, then wash your fillet under very cold running water and pat dry.

  2. a) If you use a meat grinder, use the attachment with the biggest holes (usually there are three sizes). Cut the meat into bigger chunks, so it’s easy to add to the grinder and process it.

    b) If you don’t have the meat grinder, you gotta cut the meat by yourself. So take a sharp knife of bigger size with an ideally flat blade and cut it into small cubes.

  3. Cut the capers into a size of your preference. Someone likes them bigger, and I prefer smaller as their flavor distributes more evenly.

  4. Add the meat into the mixing bowl and start adding other ingredients. Mix properly and let rest for 30 minutes in the fridge to give flavors some time to combine.

  5. After that, prepare your toasts or knackebröts, and the serving tray. You can serve the tartare with so many kinds of veggies depending on your preferences. A great combination is with avocado, cucumber, arugula, baby spinach leaves, radishes. You can add more capers to the serving tray.

  6. Fancy tip: sprinkle the meat with Maldon salt for serving as the crystals take the serving to a new level. And serve with marinated feta cheese. The combination is heavenly.
